About This Website

This is the website of the American Statistical Association (ASA) Cell and Gene Therapy Scientific Working Group. See the home page for an introduction to the group and contact details for the co-chairs.

How the site is built

  • The site is a Quarto website. _quarto.yml holds the site configuration: the navigation bar, the theme, and the list of pages to render.
  • Each page is a .qmd file in the repository root.
  • Run quarto render (or click Render in RStudio) to build the site. Output is written to docs/, which is what GitHub Pages serves, so the rebuilt docs/ has to be committed for changes to appear online.

Where the content comes from

Several pages are generated from spreadsheets in data/ rather than from text in the .qmd file, so updating them does not require editing any code:

Page Data file
Sub-teams data/members.xlsx, data/objectives.xlsx
Presentations data/presentations.xlsx

Rendering these pages requires R together with the readxl, dplyr, knitr, glue, pander and reporttools packages. Helper functions used by the sub-teams page live in tools/. The other pages need no R at all.

The publications and resources pages are plain Markdown and are edited directly in publications.qmd and resources.qmd.
